Product Care & Maintenance

GENERAL CARE INFORMATION

Please refer to the product care and maintenance information in the tag of your garment.

CHILDRENS

Cotton: Please refer to the product care and maintenance information in the tag of your garment.

Most cotton garments without delicate trim can be hand-washed or machine washed. Be sure to check the label. If washable, hand-wash or machine-wash on delicates setting. Hang to dry or tumble dry low. Cotton can be steam or dry ironed.

Linen: Please refer to the product care and maintenance information in the tag of your garment.

Some linen is washable, while others are dry clean only. Be sure to check the label. If washable, hand-wash or machine-wash on delicates setting. Hang to dry or tumble dry low. Steam press for wrinkle resistance.

Woolens and Knits: Please refer to the product care and maintenance information in the tag of your garment.

Woolens and knits should be dry cleaned unless otherwise indicated. Hang coats on shaped or padded hangers with sufficient space from other garments. Hang with closures zipped and buttoned and pockets emptied to keep shape. Fold knits and sweaters.
Keep moths away by storing wool with fresh cedar blocks or moth crystals.

When ironing wool, use the wool setting and steam press. Do not iron wool on dry setting. For best results, iron on the reverse side of the fabric. Or use a press cloth on upside of fabric to avoid a shine when ironing. Lower and lift the iron, do not slide back and forth. Dry clean coats and knits at end of season before storing.

Silk: Please refer to the product care and maintenance information in the tag of your garment. Silk should be dry cleaned only unless otherwise indicated.

Furs: When you have finished wearing your fur for the season, store all garments in a facility with proper fur care equipment. It is important that fur is stored in a controlled environment with regulated temperature, humidity, and light settings.

Never store your fur in a cedar closet, as doing so can dry out your fur. Also be sure not to store your fur with moth balls. Moth balls can create a chemical reaction that can potentially damage your fur beyond repair. Do not hang your fur in a garment bag. Fur needs air circulation and the weight of any garment bag can crush the fur. When hanging your fur garment, only use a hanger that can adequately support the jacket to maintain its shape.

Fur should be cleaned by a fur specialist at least once a year. Although your fur may look clean, dirt may not always be visible to the naked eye.

Do not spray chemicals of any kind on your fur. Chemical products can cause damage to the fur.

If the fur gets wet immediately shake the water off and hang the garment to air dry, or consult a fur specialist.

ACCESSORIES

Handbags

General Care

When storing your bag, place it in the dust bag provided and if possible in the box. The size of each bag has been designed to fit each individual bag. Store away from sunlight and temperature fluctuations.

Haircalf

Haircalf is a delicate material. Please be aware that over time, balding may occur in high impact areas. Protect from exposure to direct sunlight, sharp objects and excessive heat. To ensure longevity, be gentle with your haircalf item and store it in the protective dust bag provided when not in use.

Care should be exercised when cleaning haircalf. Use a damp white cloth and wipe with the grain of the hair, and not against the natural lay of the hair. For best results, avoid vigorous rubbing and do not use saddle soap or other leather cleaners.

Suede Lining

Never use a strong shoe-brush to brush suede, and never wash it, as the color could come off. If your bag collects small particles or dust on the inside (from the articles you carry), periodically use a dust roller (preferably after you have used it a few times on clothing so that it is not too sticky) to pick up the dirt, or turn the bag upside down and let the dust fall out, to keep the interior pristine for a long time.

Grain Leather

Our leathers are completely natural, made from the highest quality.

Our palmellato textured leather (used on the Dex bags and Madison bags) can be wiped with a soft cotton cloth. If you spill something on it, quickly wipe it off with a dry cloth. If the stain is dry, gently pat it with a lightly damp cotton cloth.

Smooth Calf Leather

Considered the finest of all leathers, completely natural and untreated, any scratches or stains add to the beauty of this product when it ages.

Nappa Leather

Generally very heavy oil or grease stains never disappear if the leather is natural. We recommend applying some “talcum powder” and keeping it on for 45 minutes in order to absorb the oil stain.

Patent Leather

If you spill on patent leather, immediately apply a clean cotton cloth to absorb the stain. Do not rub in the stain further To avoid color transfer, do not rest patent accessories against one another.

Please make sure to not leave your bags in direct sunlight for prolonged periods (especially if they are made of exotics such as alligator, lizard, stingray, snakeskin etc). Do not leave bags in places with high temperature variations.

Stone Boxes

Keep the box away from sharp objects (especially metal) that can scratch its surface. Avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning it. Use a damp cloth to get rid of finger prints if needed.

Hardware

To polish or clean the hardware, wet a cloth or paper towel and wipe it gently. Make sure water does not drip down to base of the hardware and dry thoroughly.

Jewelry

To clean or polish, wipe jewelry with a soft cloth. Keep away from moisture, direct sunlight, and perfume. Handle delicately and store on a flat surface.
