Spring 2020 Atelier

SPRING 2020

ATELIER

STEP INTO OUR NEW YORK CITY ATELIER AHEAD OF THE SPRING 2020 RUNWAY SHOW FOR A CLOSER LOOK AT THE INCOMPARABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP BEHIND THIS COLLECTION.

SILHOUETTES ARE UNABASHEDLY FEMININE, REFLECTING THE EXUBERANCE INHERENT IN THE SPIRIT OF THE CARIBBEAN WOMAN. ALONG WITH A TRIO OF HIGH-LOW

GOWNS THAT CLOSED THE SHOW, LOOK 33 IS CUT FROM LUSTROUS SILK-TAFFETA WITH TIERS OF RUFFLES DRAPED TO CREATE DRAMATIC VOLUME.

SPRING'S SOLAR COLOR PALETTE IS DRAWN FROM LUMINOUS SUNSETS AND COLOR-WASHED ARCHITECTURE OF CARIBBEAN OLD TOWNS.

VIBRANT EMBROIDERED FLOWERS AND BUTTERFLIES WERE HAND-CUT AND PLACED ONTO LINEN - A KEY FABRIC IN THIS COLLECTION THAT IS LOOMED ENTIRELY BY HAND.

FLORA AND FAUNA NATIVE TO THE ISLANDS INSPIRED THE USE OF NATURAL FABRICS. RAFFIA WAS EMBROIDERED ONTO TULLE GOWNS AND BLOUSES OR CROCHETED

INTO GOWNS, COATS AND TOTES.

TOMES ON ANTIQUE HANDKERCHIEFS AND TABLECLOTHS INSPIRED THE LACE SEEN ON GOWNS, JACKETS AND MORE THIS SEASON. THE LACE WAS CREATED IN

ITALY THEN RE-EMBROIDERED OR HAND-CUT TO CREATE THE INTRICATE PATTERNS.
